Snowy owls have been spotted in the Northeast U.S., all the way down to South Carolina since early December 2013. Scientists aren't sure why the owls, who spent much of their lives around the Arctic Circle, have arrived in such large numbers but think the 2013-2104 Polar Vortex could have something to do with it. Lucky are the folks in the Northeast who can catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures. These rest of us just get to paint them.

I have lived most of my life by the beach; so sun, sand and surf are part of every day and show up in lots of my paintings.
